Attractions around "Kadina" Bed & Breakfast

Without any doubt, the major tourist attraction of Parkes is the famous Radio Telescope.

One of the world's most powerful telescopes, its primary role is in collecting, magnifying and analysing radio waves.

The visitors' centre (open daily from 8.30am - 4.15pm) has an audio-visual display, interactive elements, computer tours, a working model of the telescope, a hologram, a live connection with the control room computers, project material, souvenirs, posters and the 'Dish Cafe'.

In the town area, you can visit Garden Bower Art Studio, Tyndall's Lavender Farm, Parkes Museum and Craft Corner and Garden Centre.

10 minutes from town you can visit the Alpaca farm.

Below is one of the truly remarkable views which can be found on the property Mal works on. Guests may visit when convenient.

Parkes offers many and varied sporting facilities. The golfer is well catered for with a picturesque 18 hole grassed green course with watered fairways. (Helen & Mal are both members)

Parkes is an ideal starting point to visit the surrounding areas: The Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo is only 70 minutes away, a drive to Cowra takes about 65 minutes, and the trip to Orange takes only 60 minutes. Forbes, which is only 20 minutes away, reminds you about the setting of the movie 'The Dish' .
